De Penghibur means (in Indonesian) "Who consoles and comforts".
After the decease of the husband, Mme Marguerite Gerard gave this name to the Kennel, founded by her in 1965.
The kennel names Les Alirols, Ad Astra, Stirkean and Beechrise are in the pedigrees of the foundation dogs.
The first French Championship was reached, in 1973, by Trudy de Penghibur, owned and handled by Mme Cavalier (Les Alirols).
From 1973 to 1983 Mme Gerard never stopped her work in the selection of her ideal phenotype: nice head, small nose and small ears.
At the beginning of the '80 her daughter, Rithe', began to work in the kennel and to show the dogs, with the help of Helene Arnoux.
Son of the World Ch. Ever Trouble of Millmoor and with Blairsville bloodlines from the mother, Ch. Tilbury de Penghibur reached 2 BIS and 5 Championships in the '70 years. He is the ancestor of 5 World Champions. He was a very easy-to-show boy, both for the groomer Rithe and the handler Helene. Thanks to his grace, after 20 years many people remembers of him.
In the '80 years Rithe and Helene won everywhere in Europe and USA with Ch. Uddersfield Ben de Penghibur. At his first show, a Specialty Show in Germany, 17 months age, Mme Kathleen Kolbert (of Turyanne kennel) judged and awarded him with the Best In Show. Ben won the World Championship in Vienna 1986. He is a son of Ch. Tilbury de Penghibur, and father of many champions, as Craler's Rob Roy, Turyanne Nothing but Trouble, Destination Tendresse de Majodian, etc.
In 1991 Carole Cousin joined the Penghibur kennel, giving her contribution to its successful history. Ch. Hooligan de Penghibur represented the top of the breeding work done by Rithe. In fact his pedigree contains all the most important dogs of the kennel. He reached 5 championships, the World Champion Title, more times winner in Speciality Shows, Award of Merit at Westminster, 3 BIS, 2 Reserve BIS, 10 Best of Group. His death, at 3 years age, stopped his career when he was at the top of the glory. Handled by Carole, he was really a king.
Two of the most important sons of Hooligan are Ch. I'm The First de Penghibur and Ch. Jofi de Penghibur.
Ch. I'm The First de Penghibur reached 5 Championships, the N.Y. National Specialities and the BOB at the Westminster 1997.
Ch. Jofi de Penghibur reached 7 European Championships and the World Champion Title 1998.
Marie Kaufmann Cardona (Parkside kennel) wrote in the december '99 issue of "The Yorkshire Terrier Magazine", talking about the Nationale d'Elevage of France (see the Sweety Blue reportage):
"During my first visit in 1997, I wrote: The Yorkies were more informed in type and color than what we have in the USA. This year, I observed that the uniformity that appealed so much to me was no longer there. The Yorkies had a wide variety of styles, sizes, colors, textures, head types etc... very much like what we have in America. This was especially noticeable in the puppies and young dogs. I will take exception with one kennel, that by just looking at the dog, you could tell it was a DE PENGHIBUR..."
