Not only Yorkshire Terriers for Carolyn Hensley, from Tucson (Arizona - USA), the founder and owner of Rievaulx kennel.
Starting out as a child in 4H with cattle and horse exhibition, in 1968 Carolyn Hensley began her foray into the world of dogs with Miniature and Standard Poodles progressing into and appreciation for and breeding/exhbiting of the Welsh Springer Spaniel.
In 1970, she began a continuing association with her beloved Irish Wolfhounds, under the HoneyVoo and Dalriada prefixes, successfully breeding and exhibiting some of the top ranked Irish Wolfhound's in the 70's through 80's in the USA and Canada.
In the 90's, Carolyn began her quest for excellence in the Yorkshire Terrier and is receiving excellent reception to animals of her breeding on an international basis and currently has one of the top ranked YT for 1999/2000.
In 1998 an interest in the Cairn Terriers developed with one of Carolyn's finishing his AKC Championship in 6 shows with 4 majors and on to 1999 with 6 BOB and 2 BOG in 8 shows. All this as a hobby breeder having at best 2 litters a year in any of her breeds of interest.
Carolyn served three years as the Show Chairman for the highly regarded Scottsdale Dog Fancier Association in Arizona.
These shows consisted of highly coordinated multiple clubs, both specialty and all-breed, combined into a major cluster for the spring and the fall circuits. These are large entry shows of around 2800 with the specialties consisting of large entries from Golden Retrievers, German Short-Haired Pointers, Miniature Pinchers, and Doberman Pinchers amongst others. The effective use of and selection of strong committee members assisted to make these well functioning shows and very financially sound benefiting the club's treasury.
Carolyn further served on the Board of Directors and on the Judges Selection Committee, one of the few none licensed members of the club to do so. Although living in Tucson, 150 miles from Scottsdale, she remains an active member of that club along with her participation with a local all breed club of Canada Del Oro.
Presently Carolyn is on the Board for the Southern Arizona Saluki Association and heads their judges selection committee. This club is one of the few that the AKC has granted immediate Sanctioned status for their first matches with Show status granted less than 1 year later. Further, she is an active member of the Steward's Club of Arizona and works at the majority of shows in Arizona.
