Stratford Yorkshire Terriers was established by Barbara & Ron Scott in 1983. The name "Stratford" was chosen for their kennel name because of the area they lived in at the time, Stratford Manor, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (U.S.A.).

The Scott's have bred and exhibited Yorkshire Terriers for 16 years with their foundation based on their first bitch, Ch. Denaire Royal Lace, ROM, daughter of an English import, Ch. Finstal Royal Icing (produced 36 champions) and Ch. Denaire Fame (produced 11 champions).
Ch. Denaire Royal Lace, produced 7 champions from 10 puppies (3 litters) and her son, Ch. Stratford's Magic, ROM, and grandson, Ch. Stratford's Blue Max were to become Stratford's top winning dogs, both multiple Best In Show and Best In Specialty Show winners.

One of Stratford's most recognized Yorkshire Terriers was BISS Ch. Mistangay Boom Boom Mancini, ROM, (3/16/85-7/21/99). First Pedigree Award Winner in 1987, 2 Best in Specialty Shows (YTCA National 9/87), 5 Group First, 24 Group Placements, 54 Best of Breeds (specialed 8 months), Sire of 6 Champions

Over the years the Scott's have achieved 62 American Champion titles of which 50 were homebred, and had 7 bitches and 2 dogs earn their Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Register of Merit Award for being Top Producers.

Stratford's Kennel was recipient of the following awards from the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America:
- 1991 & 1992 Top Winning Yorkshire Terrier : Ch. Stratford's Magic, ROM
- 1994 & 1995 Top Winning Yorkshire Terrier : Ch. Stratford's Blue Max
- 1995 Top Breeder: STRATFORD - Barbara & Ron Scott
- 1997 Top Producing Dam: Ch. Stratford's Heaven Sent, ROM
- 1997 Top Producing Sire: Ch. Stratford's Magic, ROM

Ch. Stratford's Magic, ROM, won the Feb. 1995 YTCA (National) Specialty from the Veterans Class (His third Specialty from the Veteran's Class) at 8 years and 10 months old. This was his final show before retiring. His awards:
